At least 10 people have been shot in what is believed to be a gang attack in New York City.
Two male suspects reportedly began firing at another group of people.
They immediately absconded via two scooters driven by two other people.
Arrival of the two scooters at the crime scene boosted the assumption that the attack had been coordinated beforehand.
"This was, as I can most accurately describe it, this is a brazen, coordinated attack for a lack of a better word," said New York Police Department chief of detectives, James Essig.
The US is facing a sharp rise in crime as the nation struggles to tackle the Covid pandemic.
The number of shootings in some cities such as Chicago and New York has more than doubled within the past two years.
Committing crimes such as homicide and murder are easier in the US with the broken laws providing access to guns for most people.
